Any day that I get to start my work day on a ferry is bound to be a good day. That is exactly what happened on Hailey and Corey’s Vimy Officers’ Mess wedding! It’s not the boat that makes it a good day, although I do love being on the water, it’s the fact that going the extra length to get ready on an island means the wedding will have it’s own unique touch. So here’s the deal, Hailey’s parents live on Howe Island and so, naturally, she wanted to get ready in her childhood home. Beautiful. As if the setting wasn’t over the top perfect already, it pulls in a personal element and that makes it so special. I hung out at the house and photographed the girls doing what girls do the morning of a wedding. Once all the beautifulness came together, we all headed down to the ferry and walked on! It’s a short ride so I knew I had to work fast to get a few keepers on the boat. Success. While I was floating to and from the bride’s house, I left the guys in the capable hands of Viara Mileva back on the mainland for dude prep photos. By the looks of it, they had a rowdy good ol’ time themselves and then met us, on time I might add, at Vimy for the first look. They looked. They freaked. Then, we made some bridal party portraits before the ceremony went down.
The fun never stopped. The dance floor was spirited, there were more than a few drinks had and there were touching speeches, funny speeches and speeches with visual aids. You guys nailed it! It was a wedding full of personal touches, meaningful moments mixed with funny moments all coming together to create the perfect storm. Congrats Hailey and Corey and thanks a million times over for putting your trust in me to retell your story. #rememberhowitfelt
Before I peace out, I need to shout out to my fellow vendors who did their part to make the day as top notch as it was. Hailey’s dress from David’s Bridal, Flowers from the incomparable LSP Designs, all the hairs did at LUCE, and all the sound from Sound on Sound Productions.
