Thousand Islands Sunset Engagement | Tanya + Tyler

All good things start with beer, especially in the Thousand Islands at sunset. While that’s not entirely true, it can’t hurt right?! With that in mind, when I met up with Tanya and Tyler recently for their engagement session, that’s exactly what we did. It was an absolutely unreal fall afternoon, the sun was shining and the breeze was warm. With an afternoon of exploring Gananoque and the Thousand Islands on the docket, we started out with a couple bevies on the patio at the Socialist Pig, possibly the coolest place in town. Usually I start my engagement sessions by explaining that the first little bit is a warm up because it can feel awkward to be photographed and that it takes a little time before we get to the jaw dropping images. HA. The first picture in this post was literally the first one of the day. Daaaamn! I knew we were in for a good shoot.

With some liquid courage under our belts, we stormed on and checked out some really cool little nooks and crannies around town before jumping aboard “Windswept III” courtesy of the Thousand Islands Boat Museum. Tanya and Tyler have an appreciation for the water so it seemed only fitting to get out on a boat and explore a little. We snapped some images on the boat, on the dock and we even let Tyler pretend to be the captain for a minute! But, with the Thousand Islands on the horizon we set sail for a pretty awesome secret spot our hosts had in mind. We arrived at our destination and got off the boat while the sun was falling like a ton of bricks towards the horizon. Perfect, my favourite light to play with! Luckily, at this point, T&T were used to my creative process and I was able to shuttle them around the island quickly to take advantage of this glorious light we had before it disappeared completely! With some killer shots in the bag, we got back on the boat and cruised back to the mainland through unusually calm Lake Ontario waters.

Next up for these two is their 2018 wedding at one of my favourite places to ride a snowboard in the Georgian Bay area, Alpine Ski Club. This adventurous duo has some pretty sweet stuff in store which includes chairlift rides, vintage cars and something else completely new to me which you’ll just have to tune in to find out in July! Peace out for now.
