Museum Of Nature Wedding | Katie + Jon

People are kind. People are funny. Every person has a story. I find these three simple facts to be so intriguing! Week in, week out I get to hang out with new people and hear their stories and witness friendships within bridal parties. I see stories unfold throughout wedding days and I hear recounts from childhood as proud parents struggle to find the words to tell their children how much they love them as they deliver a speech to 100 people. As a parent myself, it’s such a treat to witness this on an ongoing basis. Katie and Jon have their stories too and I’m so proud that they had me with them on their wedding day to document this next story in their history. They’re also kind and funny people, the kind of people you just want to be around and call your friends. As I scroll through these photos I’m overwhelmed by the happiness they invoke and how genuinely happy they look. Don’t you just want to go hang out with them?!

We hopped around downtown Ottawa a bunch from prep to the gorgeous Southminster United Church for the ceremony and ultimately winding up at the Museum of Nature for the portraits and reception. A breathtaking blue sky day, we took full advantage of the rich colour in the sky and made some lovely portraits in the Arctic Garden at the Museum as well as in the jaw-dropping stairwell of the museum. On from there was a collection of heartfelt speeches while dining on some amazing food. The night concluded with some dancing and socializing with their friends and family who were just as kind as the newly wedded couple.
