As I sit here, bundled up in flannel with a snow on the horizon, it’s hard to imagine that it was probably the hottest day of the year back when I shot this amazing Happy Life Farms Wedding back in mid September. But, it was. It was so hot, and it was perfect. I love that we live in a part of the world with such distinctly different seasons. We get to experience those hot summer nights and then mere weeks later we roll into hoodie season. Neat. But let’s not think about that just yet, let’s think about weddings and cold beers as blissful summer breezes flow through the open barn doors as you dance the night away with you best friends.
I met up with Jessaca and Kory for their final preps at the Courtyard Marriott where they were isolated in their adjacent rooms, saving the reveal for the walk down the aisle. I popped back and forth between the rooms until the ties were tied and the strappy shoes were on and then hopped in the car, en route for Happy Life Farms. I may have taken a bit of a detour which resulted in some off roading, but that was part of the adventure! I got there as the guests trickled in and awed at the amazingly decorated barn and commented about how epic this evening would be. Finally, it was go time and Kory’s day was made as his beautiful bride made her way across the country field and down the sunlit path towards the wedding arch. There were tears coming from many faces, a wedding photographer’s holy grail! Where to point the camera!!?
With only a 5 minute (which felt like an eternity) interruption in the ceremony thanks to a very loud train rolling by, Kory was given a chance to recite the vows in his head and delivered them beautifully once that serene country peace was restored! They kissed, grabbed their dogs and walked down the aisle as husband and wife. What happened next was a whole lot of photos in amazing evening light and then seriously good times inside the barn complete with a pizza party, rocking dance floor, beer pong and flip cup, of course. As if that wasn’t enough, Jessica set the night on fire as I made my exit. No seriously, she really did…you’ll see! Scrollllll….
