Welcome to Jennifer and Gary’s wedding at Amberwood Lounge and Eatery…or ALE as it is commonly referred to. Also, welcome to the wedding where no matter where you looked or what conversation was within earshot there was laughter abound. When I sit down to write these blog posts, I never really know what I’m going to say but one thing’s for sure, I never want to generically comment on the weather. Forget the small talk. Let’s talk about happiness. Laughter and genuine interaction, because if you know me, you know that’s what my camera is trained to look and listen for. Like a broken record I am always telling my couples that I want them to remember how their day felt when they look at their photos. When I scroll through these photos from inside and around the grounds of Amberwood Lounge, I feel like I was time-warped right back to this day. A day when the orange was jumping off the trees like a megaphone cranked to 11 during this late fall afternoon. A day where everything was hilarious. A day where all of the wedding things happened but the fun that ensued was paramount. And moreover, a day that was so full of pure joy and happiness you could hear from across the golf course and beyond.
I first met Jennifer and Gary for their engagement photos last winter during the gnarliest of gnarly winter storms. It was going to be about a little romp in the snow and some pond hockey to wrap things up. Well, the weather had other plans and it snowed so hard we could barely see each other as we tried to make the images we could given the conditions. I knew right there and then that this couple had their priorities right and that they were going to be a boat load of fun to work with! Turns out, I was right. I showed up for the guys prep and they were chill but lively. There may have been a little Bailey’s in the morning coffees and some trash talk from the golf game they had just finished up. Then, off to the spa where the girls were getting prepped. This is a family show so I won’t report too much on the hilarious and slightly south of appropriate shenanigans that were going on when I got there. I immediately snapped free of my introvert’s shell and played along. We had some fun, got some great photos and then all set sail for Amberwood Lounge and a great ceremony out on the golf course.
I dos in check, we hopped on a golf cart for a few portraits as the sun blazed for the horizon. Quite literally, Gary piloted the golf cart like it was on rails while I hung off the back praying that at least one of my shots would turn out. It did, phew! We got our pretty sunset photos on the greens just outside of ALE and then scurried inside to get the party crackin’. The big smiles and laughter continued into the night both during speeches an throughout whatever else was going on. Jennifer and Gary, you guys get a gold star for fun-ness.
Now, before I release into this super joyous set of photos, let me shout out to Opportunity Knocks Events for keeping the day’s dealings on track, Alliance Bridal for Jennifer’s dress, Mahogany Salon and Spa for the most gorgeous setting to do hair and make-up, TIP Limo Service for getting them there in style and DJ Bobby T for crushing the dance floor!
